Tired of local news that's overpriced, filled with ads, and never uncovers the real truth?
So are we.
That's why we've launched Central Virginia Update, where we will be providing spirited Monday and Friday updates on all things Central Virginia - a clean and clear, non-biased perspective on our region and all the good it has to offer.
We are a group of volunteers in Bedford and Campbell committed to filling a growing local news void and we want to hear directly from you. As always, you can submit news, tips & information anonymously to centralvirginiaupdate@gmail.com
But don't get us wrong - we will also be featuring quality local journalism from a variety of sources, and we encourage our subscribers to support those publications in their efforts.
Unless the lucky person who struck the $1Billion+ Mega Million calls us to donate, our efforts will be entirely funded by community sponsors and our readers.
On Mondays, subscribers will receive a short recap of the weekend's news & an outlook of what to expect in the week ahead, including pending local government actions, community gatherings, events, non-profit news, and featured real estate listings.
On Fridays, subscribers will receive a review of the week's news and an outlook for weekend events and special event deals. You won't find more inside information about Central Virginia anywhere else! Start and end your week with us & save time clicking through multiple websites bogged down by ads & pop-ups.
Up for grabs for our subscribers this coming Friday, August 5th: local campaign previews for a school board special election; Bedford Town Council considers borrowing between $8.5 and $10 million for a new police station for its 24-person police force - with a competition basketball court and gym: leaked information on Supervisor Bob Davis’ recent tirade at the planning department; broadband updates; inside details on a suspicious death in Campbell County; and more on the botched nursing home deal.
Note: This coming week, the Bedford County Board of Supervisors has CANCELED its August work session and August 8th regular meeting. Campbell County Board of Supervisors consider transportation issues and brush removal. Lynchburg City Council meets August 9th. Roanoke City Council meets tonight - agenda here.
Weather outlook: The week looks beautiful in Central Virginia once we get through this dreary Monday - upper 80’s/low 90’s until Thursday with mountainous areas seeing low 60’s in the evenings. Storms possible throughout the week with greater chances toward the weekend. Peaches are fresh at area orchards & both the Bedford and Forest farmers’ markets this weekend were busy. If you missed them, you missed out.
On the market: a gorgeous American Bungalow style home on Park St in Bedford, an iconic Avenel Ave property, and a helluva deal on Rolfe Ave in Lynchburg. Inventory in the region is still low.
