Beale's drag show is sold out. "Customers" are complaining anyway.
Bedford’s lone brewery and beloved town gathering place is hosting its third “Drag Brunch” on Sunday, April 6th, outside of its normal operating hours. The event sold out immediately upon its announcement earlier this week.
Several online commenters have stated things like, “trust me I won’t go back there,” from Koby Karnes; “you just lost my patronage,” by Glenda Hutchinson; and “we do not need this crap in our little town,” according to Janice Clark.
The problem is, none of these people seem to have ever been there in the first place, as pointed out by a post from Beale’s social media accounts this afternoon. The editors of this publication are well attuned to Bedford and its population, and we have never heard of any of these people.
In its response to the various posts, Beale’s noted the brewery is “a place that welcomes everyone, regardless of sexual identity, political views, or religious beliefs.”
The unfolding outcry is a testing grounds for political resistance to new federal policies targeting the rights of certain groups of people, and could draw protests - from both sides, who probably both love cold beer.
